The door

The armored doors that we usually have in the houses provide good security. But we must always remember that it is basic to close the lock with all turns. If we simply leave the door slip, with a simple x-ray it can be opened.

It’s all right to have two locks on the door. A thief will always prefer a simpler door.

You can link the lighting of the hall or a room adjacent to the door opening (as in the refrigerator). The intruder will see it more complicated if he thinks there may be someone at home.

Windows

It is an easier access than it seems. Even in summer we must be careful if from the deck or climbing can reach the window. If we want to leave it open, lowering the blind we make sure that the intruder must make too much noise to enter.

Self- locking shutters prevent access can be easily forced. In penthouses or low are highly recommended. The other option is the traditional fence.

Alarms

It is a booming business that gives us many alternatives. We must assess whether it will be enough deterrence for the thief and if its cost is permissible. For this we must analyze the different levels of security that exist.

Behavior

  • Although it is unbelievable the best method of safety is to follow certain rules of behavior that should be part of common sense.
  • Do not make it clear that we are not at home. Mail should not piling up in the mailbox, the blinds should not stay downs…
  • Have neighbors and know who they are. The next door, without need of great friends, is the best insurance for our house just as we are for our neighbor.

And if there is no choice but remember that many insurance like home, or many credit cards offer coverage against theft. Although we recognize that it is best not to know if we have that coverage.
